We produce enough renewable energy in our own solar and hydropower plants to cover 100% of the daily electricity needs of our customers covered by basic supply. Whether you’re vacuuming your home, making your toast or mixing your smoothies, the energy for your day-to-day life is 100% homemade. From our in-house production in Switzerland.
Hydropower
Our reservoirs in the Grisons and run-of-river hydropower stations on the Limmat River produce the majority of our renewable energy and ensure that we have enough energy at all times – regardless of whether the sun is shining less or the wind turbines are not running.
Solar power
We build and operate solar power plants on public and private buildings and produce solar power for every need: whether it’s a citizen investment model for tenants, contracting for property owners or, more recently, solutions for local electricity communities (LEG).
Heating
We supply households with climate-friendly heating using water from Lake Zurich and waste water and waste heat from Werdhölzli. Our heating networks already cover a good third of the city of Zurich – with that figure expected to rise to 60% by 2040.
