You supply your neighbourhood with solar power and make an active contribution to a renewable electricity supply.
There’s no cost to you and you benefit from simple processing and reliable operation by ewz.
You secure stable revenues over the long term and thus greater investment security.
ewz.solarquartier – a local electricity community (LEG) – is proactively supporting the energy transition by bringing together local producers and consumers of solar power. All producers in the ewz Zurich supply area will be able to benefit and join an LEG in the future.
As an electricity producer, you will sell your surplus electricity directly in the district instead of feeding it into the grid as before. In this way, you will provide consumers with easy access to sustainable solar power, promote future-oriented energy solutions and benefit from stable revenues at the same time.
With the yes vote on the Electricity Act of 9 June 2024, it is clear that LEGs will be possible in the near future – probably from 2026. The regulatory framework for LEGs will be announced at the ordinance level in the first quarter of 2025. From that point on, you can check whether your solar panel installation is eligible to join the ewz.solarquartier LEG and then place a binding order.
We will establish an LEG as soon as we have enough LEG participants and have met the regulatory requirements. Are you interested? Put yourself on the waiting list now and we’ll let you know as soon as things get started:
Yes, thanks to ewz.solarquartier, you can draw renewable energy from your neighbourhood – without your own solar panels.
