In the area of climate protection, we have set ourselves the following specific objectives:
- We will reduce the direct greenhouse gas emissions of ewz services and products for our customers to net zero by 2040.
- For ewz’s own emissions, as part of the municipal authorities, this target already applies for 2035.
- By 2035, we will reduce our indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 30% compared to 1990 levels, notably by building grids and facilities.
The measures with which we aim to achieve these objectives can be divided into three areas of action:
- Reducing energy consumption to the minimum necessary. Unnecessary energy consumption must be avoided and energy efficiency increased.
- Covering remaining energy needs with energy from renewable sources.
- Minimum material requirements, with preference given to low-CO₂ materials.
