Heating solution for 900 apartments
The Benziwil development is located in Emmenbrücke in the canton of Lucerne and was designed in the 1960s. It offers living space for around 2,500 people as well as areas for public use. In early 2014, we commissioned a modern and climate-friendly wood-chip heating system to replace the ageing heating solution. Natural gas is now only used for redundancy and peak coverage. This allows us to cover 80 per cent of our heating requirements in a climate-neutral way. Our specialists ensure the safe and efficient operation of the system around the clock.

Smart use of solar energy and waste heat
The Hunziker site belongs to the ‘mehr als wohnen’ construction cooperative. It is located in the north of Zurich, is certified as a 2000-watt site and offers cost-effective, environmentally friendly and high-quality living and working space for more than 1,000 people. The self-consumption solution means that almost all of the solar power produced on the roofs is used on site. Our integrated energy supply concept uses the waste heat from a neighbouring data centre as an energy source for heating and cooling, which benefits both the environment and the wallet.
