We have developed a large environmentally friendly energy network in collaboration with the city of Schlieren. The energy network uses environmentally friendly and locally available energy sources: waste heat from industrial plants and energy from purified waste water. We planned, financed and implemented the project. Since completion, we have been responsible for the network’s operation and further extension in line with the city of Schlieren’s energy plan. The more than 70 properties now connected to the energy network save around 8,300 tonnes of CO₂ every year.
We planned, financed and implemented the heating network together with the municipality of Tavannes (around 15 km south-west of Moutier in the Bernese Jura). We are also responsible for its efficient operation over several decades. Commissioning took place in 2015. We use wood as the energy source, while heating oil is used for redundancy and peak coverage. This means that the Tavannes heating network is 85 per cent carbon-neutral. The heating plant supplies various municipal and residential buildings with 1,775 MWh/a of locally-generated, climate-friendly heat via the district heating network.
